Dear Lawncrest Community,
The Community Ventures team is reaching out to you with a status update on the Rebuild Project at Lawncrest. We know there is a lot of anticipation in the neighborhood about the next steps in the design process. Since the design meeting in March, our team has been hard at work. We are trying to bring Lawncrest neighbors’ voices into one ideal layout.
During the meeting in March, we talked about striking a balance. We are working to achieve long-term aspirations as well as essential building repairs. The task is complex. We needed to do further assessment and testing to determine the best solution for systems and programs that would impact the long term operations at the site. Our team is committed to creating the best and most sustainable design for the Recreation Center and Library that will serve this community for this generation, and the next.
The entire design and community engagement team is working with Rebuild, Philadelphia Parks and Recreation, The Free Library of Philadelphia and Councilwoman Cherelle Parker's office. Once we come up with strategic options, we will invite you to discuss later this Winter. The community and the project team will continue to develop the design together.
We are sending this update to remind you that the Rebuild project is ongoing. The community's voice has been, and will continue to be a guide throughout the stages of this project. Our whole team looks forward to meeting again soon (in-person or virtual) to keep designing improvements with you!
