Our February Nixon/Cobbs Creek Virtual Community Meeting was another success in receiving your input! The meeting was attended by approximately 20 community members. We were excited to see so many familiar faces from the December Meeting as well as so many new faces. Your energy and voices were heard loud and clear!
During the meeting we presented a layout for the building, saw inspirational images for the site and suggested interventions. The discussion was spirited and the feedback was thoughtful and insightful. Here are key items that were talked about:
Educational opportunities in the landscape
Revitalizing the exterior of the Blanche A Nixon Library, creating a welcoming space
An artistic commemorating and honoring Blanche A Nixon’s legacy
Improved signage both interior and exterior of the Library
Improved spaces that encourage children and teenagers to use the Library.
Multipurpose spaces both interior and exterior to host Library and community programs
Using color to affect mood
We were glad to hear of your excitement and responsive to the layout presented.
Our next step is to take all the current feedback to date and design layouts that include the suggestions. Once drawn, we will look to you again for more feedback and to make sure we captured your ideas well.
Stay tuned and stay connected!
